THIS WEEK’S STUDENT SPOTLIGHT:

SAHAR NANGOLI from Santa Cruz, California

Hi, there guys!! I am super excited to be GOAKALA Blog’s first student spotlight! I figure the best way to use this opportunity is just to tell you all a little bit about myself and some of my hobbies. I’m a rising senior this year and I recently moved to California. My life has been quite the journey, as my family moves around a lot and I’ve actually been in 5 different schools in the past 5 years. Although it was tough to deal with at the moment, I wouldn’t change anything for the world! I’ve been exposed to so much and am so grateful for all the doors that moving has opened for me.

As far as hobbies go, I am a very dedicated student-athlete. I played competitive club volleyball this past year along with three years of varsity volleyball as a libero. Sports take a lot of dedication, but in some ways, I think they’re also kind of magical…. here, I’ll explain. After crazy long days of schools, spending three hours on the court was almost therapeutic for me. The ability to forget about tests, anxiety, and all the other baggage that comes with being a teen today is an irreplaceable feeling that only volleyball has had the ability to give me.

Other than that, I have a passion for educating myself and others on the world we live in especially on topics which focus on human rights! Last year, I did this through Model UN in conferences in Bahrain and Prague, but I took a different route this year. I created my own site (LINKED BELOW), which focuses on writing articles focused on current events. The articles are tailored towards Gen Z, and the site now averages 5,000 views monthly! The site now options where a teen from anywhere in the world can submit media to be published and viewed by thousands… check it out!

Alrighty, thats it for today! Have a great week everyone :))) See you next time.
