College Board announced that they will no longer be offering subject tests. Before you start cheering, however, here’s what you need to know. The rationale was that with AP tests Colleges will have a metric to consider for academic strength and therefore the subject test is not necessary. Unfortunately, that adds pressure to take more AP level classes so that you can qualify for the AP exams. Please note that you can self-study and take the exams if you are not either enrolled in a class or if your school doesn’t offer a variety of classes. Again, this puts a lot of pressure on you – self studying is not always easy. But, should you take that route, a college could give you props for taking the initiative and working hard on your own.
